Creatively Me

Updated: Dec 17, 2019

At two years old, I asked my mom to buy me some gum. Her response led to me understanding that if I want something, I have to work for it. I started making lip gloss and nail polish after watching one of my favorite YouTubers, Sara's Beauty Corner. I sold a few nail polish/lip gloss kits to my mom's friends, and at three, came up with the name "Gabby's World," for my business.

While in the process of making makeup kits to sell, my mom and aunt began teaching their MIE Sewing classes. These classes teach kids math through sewing.

Already involved by default, I saw what they were doing and wanted to learn. So, at three I stared sewing. I made my first pillow and bag during their summer camp. I also learned that sewing is something that requires patience and paying attention after the needle went through my finger. But, that didn't stop me. I likes sewing. I liked creating clothes I could wear. I liked being able to go from large amounts of fabric to beautiful dresses, so I kept practicing. Now I am 6, and seeing that hard work pays off.

I am so glad my mom told me no when I asked her to buy me some gum. I am also glad that she told me that she will take care of my needs but if it is something that I want, I need to work for it. If she didn't, I never would have started my own business at two years old.
